The spatial characteristics of the Karabük Iron and Steel Works settlement are similar to those of other Sümerbank neighborhoods. In planning the housing in this settlement, attention was paid to the physical features of the site and to the differences in social status among the workers. An architectural program was drawn up taking into account all the spatial and socio-cultural needs of the factory's workers. Between 1950 and 1960, housing largely meeting the needs of engineers and managers (the Cubanas, the White Houses, the Thirty-Eight Houses) was built.
