The largest mosque in central Hayrabolu, it was commissioned by Güzelce Hasan Bey, son-in-law of Bayezid II. The revenues of the villages of Dânişmendli and Midyeli, in the Cisriergene district of Dimetoka, which Bayezid II had granted to Güzelce Hasan Bey, were endowed by Hasan Bey to this mosque. Its Arabic construction inscription records the founder as Hasan Bey b. Abdullah and the date of construction as Rebîülevvel 905 (October 1499).
