The Panionium is a historic site near Güzelçamlı in the Kuşadası district of Aydın Province, on the northern slope of Mt. Mycale facing the Aegean. It was an Ionian sanctuary dedicated to Poseidon Helikonios and the meeting place of the Ionian League; Herodotus describes it as sacred ground on Mycale set apart for Poseidon by the Ionians.
