Melia was a Carian polis of ancient Ionia that was razed by decision of the Ionian League to which it belonged, the earliest known explicit action of that League. Much of what is known comes from a long inscription at Priene recording a land dispute between Priene and Samos over territory once belonging to Melia and redistributed after the Meliac War. Rhodian arbitrators awarded the lands, which included Fort Karion, to Priene. The exact locations of Melia, the Panionion and Old Priene remain uncertain; in the early 21st century the archaeologist Hans Lohmann, after a survey, proposed a new and more likely site for the town.
