From 15 May 1915, the vessel served in Istanbul under the command of Captain Johannes Kirchner. During this time it sank five enemy ships on three patrols. On 29 November 1915 it ran aground at the mouth of the Sakarya River on the Bosphorus during a storm and was declared lost. None of the crew died.
