Editor's Note
Gurpinar Bridge, in the Yomra district of Trabzon between the villages of Kiratli and Oymalitepe, is a single-arched stone bridge with a semicircular arch set on a rocky foundation. Built with the infill-wall technique, the structure uses tuff stone in the arch and piers and mainly basalt in the spandrel walls and fill; its arch was constructed with the toothed bonding system that spread from the Gumushane region to the Trabzon area. With a deck length of 17.40 meters and an arch span of 11.80 meters, the bridge has parapets that have largely remained intact, and its upstream and downstream faces were designed symmetrically.
