Editor's Note
Degirmendere Bridge was built in 1891 by the Nemlizade family using cut stone. After the old four-arched Ottoman-era bridge collapsed, the new bridge was rebuilt with three arches, a flat deck, and shallow arches. One arch on the eastern side of the earlier bridge has survived to the present day, forming an important relic of the first phase. About 140 meters long and 5.50 meters wide, the bridge consists of three shallow arches resting on masonry stone piers, each arch spanning roughly 45 meters.
