The Tahir Ağa Mansion was built in 1890 by Hafız Zade Tahir Ağa. One of the late-period examples of Ottoman domestic architecture, the building reflects the rich civil architectural tradition of the era through a balanced combination of wood and stone. The mansion's load-bearing system is a wooden frame; this frame system was reinforced so as to preserve the structural integrity of the building, yet repaired without intervening in the original fabric. Its outer walls were built of stone 80 cm thick, and this wall thickness serves an important function for both structural soundness and thermal insulation.
