Editor's Note
The Church of Saint Gregory of Nyssa was a church and monastery in Trabzon. It is believed to have been built between 1280 and 1297 during the reign of John III, Emperor of Trabzon. After 1665 it became the cathedral of the city of Trabzon. The church is dedicated to Saint Gregory of Nyssa, a Christian bishop and saint. The last king of Imereti, Solomon II, was buried here in 1815, and in 1863 it was rebuilt by Constantius, Metropolitan of Trabzon.
