The Governor's Mansion was built in 1908 in an eclectic artistic style by the banker Kostaki Theophylaktos. Set on a nearly square plan, the structure is a characteristic example of the tradition of summer residences that developed in the Soğuksu neighborhood at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. Cut stone was used in its construction, while the interior partition walls were made using the lath-and-plaster (bağdadi) technique. Consisting of two regular floors and a terrace floor above a basement, the building has a monumental entrance reached by stairs on its north side.
