Editor's Note
The Special Köşk High School (Kostaki Mansion) was built in the early 20th century by the banker Kostaki Theophylaktos for his son-in-law, the architect Dimitrios Fyllisis. Completed in 1910, the building stands out for its original features reflecting the architectural sensibility of its time. Under the population-exchange provisions of the Treaty of Lausanne, it was transferred to the treasury in 1923, and in 1925 it passed into private ownership through an exchange for the Ongan family's land in Polita. Set on a rectangular plan running north to south, the mansion was built as a single story atop a raised basement.
