It was built during the construction of the Gümrü-Kars route of the Transcaucasian Railway, which formed the Batum-Tiflis-Gümrü-Kars-Erzurum line, in 1889. The tower has a square plan and two storeys. On the west façade of the first storey, which is kept quite high, there is a segmental-arched entrance doorway, and on the other façades there are likewise segmental-arched window openings. It is built of cut stone. The square-plan second storey is of timber. On each façade it has decorated rectangular windows.
