Editor's Note
The bridge over the Kars River, built in the 19th century, was constructed of cut basalt stone with three arches. The Colonel Lake Bridge, the second stone bridge in Kars, was built over the Kars River by the British officer and engineer Colonel Lake, who came to Kars before the Ottoman-Russian wars of 1855 and took part in the construction of the Kars redoubts; it is used as an exit from Kars Castle. It was restored true to its original in 2020 by the 18th Regional Directorate of Highways.
