The exact construction date of the chapel, which came to light in 2017 during the demolition of shanty houses at the foot of Kars Castle, is unknown. However, the building's architectural features suggest that it may have been built during the Russian occupation between 1878 and 1918. It has a rectangular plan oriented east-west and is covered with a barrel vault. Its apse on the east is semicircular inside and flat-walled on the outside.
