Editor's Note
Between 1877 and 1896 the Russian Cheltikov family settled in Kars and had the building constructed as their mansion. The building, later transferred to the Russian government, was long used as an opera house. After the Russians left Kars, it served in turn as a primary school, a military pharmaceutical depot, a hospital, a maternity ward, and finally a physicians' residence. In 2011 it was converted into a hotel. The building bears the characteristics of the Baltic architectural style.
