Editor's Note
The Yanıkoğlu Mosque was built in AH 1068 / AD 1657 by Süleyman Ağa son of Yusuf Ağa, the Janissary Commander of Aleppo. The building has a rectangular plan and an interior of three aisles. These aisles are covered by horizontal wooden beams carried on four wooden columns. The portico (son cemaat mahalli) to the north is a flat-ceilinged section carried on wooden posts. The mosque's roof is wooden and covered with tiles. In the cut-stone walls, the window jambs and lintels are of finely worked stone. There are sixteen windows in all, two lower and two upper on each of the four facades.
