The Pervane Bey Madrasa was built in Kayseri after 672 AH (1273) by Muînüddîn Süleyman Pervane, one of the leading emirs of the Anatolian Seljuk State. This building stood out as one of the symbols of the educational activity and scholarly vitality in 13th-century Anatolia. Kutbüddin eş-Şîrâzî, the renowned scholar of mathematics, astronomy, and medicine who came from Iran and carried out important scientific work in Anatolia, was appointed as its professor.
