Editor's Note
The Hüseyin Bey Bath, or Çömlek Bath, one of three baths built by the architect Mimar Sinan in Kayseri, was commissioned by Hüseyin Bey, who served as the provincial governor of Aksaray during the reign of Sultan Süleyman the Magnificent and is thought to have been a native of Kayseri. In the same period, Hüseyin Bey repaired the Hacı Kılıç Mosque, had an imaret built to the north of the mosque, and entrusted the construction of this bath to Mimar Sinan as well. The bath is recorded as the "Hüseyin Bath in Kayseri" in the Tezkiretü'l-Bünyan, Tezkiretü'l-Ebniye, and Tezkiretü'l-Mimarin, the works that compile Sinan's buildings.
