The Mehmet Gazi Mausoleum is a tomb dated to the first quarter of the 12th century, reflecting the plain, functional architectural sensibility of the period. The sources relate that the Danishmendid ruler Melik Mehmed Gazi died on 6 January 1143 and was buried in this mausoleum within the complex he himself had built. The mausoleum is positioned adjoining the middle of the southern façade of the Great Mosque he had constructed. However, it has not been firmly established whether the tomb is definitely his.
