During the years of the War of Independence, a major education mobilization was launched to raise public awareness behind the front lines; within this effort, Teachers' Associations were founded in many cities across Turkey between 1918 and 1924. In Kayseri, this initiative became official on 16 September 1921 with the founding of the "Association of Male and Female Teachers." The association was established with great enthusiasm by the enlightened teachers of the period, and Mazhar Müfit Kansu was appointed as its chairman. The board included figures such as Dr. Remzi Bey, Zami Bey, Eşref Bey, Sıdkı Bey, and Şakir Bey.
