Gazi Paşa Mektebi

Located on Osman Kavuncu Avenue, the Gazi Paşa School (a primary school in today's terms) is among the city's earliest educational buildings. This rectangular structure running east-west was built of neatly cut stone. Designed as a single story over the ground, it reflects the architectural simplicity and sense of solidity of its era. Although the building has no construction inscription, it is known that work on it began in 1914 under the then-governor Zekai Bey and mayor Rıfat Çalık, but for various reasons it could not be completed until 1918.
