Location: It occupies a sea-facing position in the Büyük Cafer Paşa Quarter of the Çayeli district of Rize. History: A two-line inscription to the left of the entrance reveals that this mosque, the earliest-dated building in the Çayeli region, was built by Cafer Paşa in 1570. The inscription reads: Cafer ibni Hüseyin built this mosque, the year 977 (1570). Although some studies have claimed, based on an inscription to the left of the entrance, that the building was constructed in 1467, the inscription on the building today bears the date 977 AH (1570).
