Location: It stands in the Aşağı (Lower) Neighborhood of Şimşirli village, recorded by its old name Komes, in the İkizdere district of Rize. History: A three-line Ottoman inscription on the second-floor level of the mosque's portico, whose edges were later clad in wood, records that the building was constructed in 1309/1891. The text, however, could not be fully deciphered. The inscription reads: 'Year 1309/1891, mashallah, maker Muhammed Usta ...'
