Location: It stands in the Yukarı (Upper) Neighborhood of Şimşirli village, formerly called Komes, in the İkizdere district of Rize. History: The building, also known as the Şimşirli Village Mosque, has two inscriptions, on its entrance door and its mihrab. The entrance door bears the date 1265/1848, while the mihrab inscription set within a cartouche reads: 'One who in his lifetime did not find and learn his faith, what good will instruction do for him within his grave; maker Ahmet Usta, year 1270/1853.' Publications on the building suggest that the mosque was constructed between 1853 and 1857.
