The tomb is an early Ottoman-period work built in baldachin style. Raised on four large stones with fired-brick courses, it is crowned by a lead-clad, brick-built dome. It is one of the largest baldachin tombs in Anatolia. Gravestones from two different periods are preserved at the Amasya Archaeology and Mummy Museum. Kurtboğan was the father of the famous great scholar Akşemsettin of Amasya, who was also a teacher of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror.
