Editor's Note
Owing to scant information, Polemonion is often confused with its western neighbor Phadisane. Polemonion lay to the east of present-day Fatsa, below today's Bolaman. Fatsa itself is mentioned in ancient sources as Phadisane or Phabda. In volumes 12–13–14, where he describes the geography of Anatolia, Strabo speaks of the region from west to east: "16. After Themiskyra one comes to Sidene, a fertile plain, though not as well watered as Themiskyra. It has fortresses along the sea: Khabaka, Phabda, and Side. Sidene took its name from this... See."
