The tower stands on the Başköy hill, 400 meters above sea level, commanding its surroundings. The owner of the land on which it stands relates that the structure was built by an Ottoman bey rather than belonging to the Greeks, and that the ruined house where the bey once lived can still be found in the neighborhood.
