Editor's Note
The mosque in the town center is the oldest surviving structure in Osmancik. Because it also had an imaret (soup kitchen) that has not survived, it is also known by that name. It was built in AH 834 (AD 1431-1432) by Koca Mehmet Pasha, who holds a great place in the historical fabric of Osmancik. Built on an inverted 'T' plan using brick and rubble stone with lime mortar as the binder, the structure carries out its function in good condition thanks to the repairs it has undergone. The porch for latecomers, understood to have stood on the north facade, has been demolished.
