Editor's Note
Located on İstasyon Avenue in the Kozluk neighborhood of İzmit, the Old Station Area covers 21 dönüms (about 2.1 hectares); its plan was drawn by the German architect Otto Ritter, and the buildings on the site were constructed between 1873 and 1910. The historic train station witnessed the welcoming ceremonies for Atatürk and many other prominent statesmen. The station and warehouse buildings were restored by the Kocaeli Governorate in 2006.
