Editor's Note
On 13 December 1635, returning from the Yerevan campaign, Sultan Murad IV stayed in Çerkeş for about eight hours and ordered Silahtar Mustafa Pasha to build a mosque there. Completed in 1638 and known as the Muradiye Mosque, it was repaired during the reign of Abdülhamid and completely destroyed in the 1944 earthquake. In 1953 the present mosque was built on its foundations.
