Editor's Note
A historic caravanserai near Ankara Castle. Though it bears no inscription, it is thought to have been built in 1471 by Rum Mehmed Pasha, one of Sultan Mehmed II's viziers. Named for the lead plates on its roof, the han was very busy in its early centuries and became one of the trading centres for sof, a cloth woven from Ankara goat wool, commanding some of the highest rents in the city.
