Editor's Note
This domed tomb on İtfaiye (Opera) Square is known from its inscription to have been built in 1577 (AH 985). The Turkish inscription above its door, which reads "Gülü nazikteni" (delicate rosebud), confirms the tradition that the person buried here was a girl. This tomb is another example, in the centre of Ankara, showing that among the venerated saints in Islam there were also women and girls who were visited and to whom vows were made.
