It stands on a hilltop in the valley where the Maymun and Sufunya streams meet, northeast of the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ province. In the surface survey of the fortress, whose western and eastern ramparts are visible in places, numerous ceramic and amphora fragments dated from the 3rd century BC to the 2nd century AD were found. Because the site lies on Mount Ganos, it is thought it may also have served the Thracians as a sacred place. It was registered as a First-Degree Archaeological Conservation Area by decision no. 2137 of the Edirne Regional Directorate for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage, dated 16 January 2015.
