This site lies within the boundaries of Yeniköy village in the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ province. According to elderly residents of the village and documents in the Archive of the General Staff, during the Balkan Wars the Soma Reserve Battalion attached to the 27th Regular Division, in battles on 8 February 1913, lost 9 officers killed, 29 officers wounded, and 1,300 enlisted men and NCOs killed or wounded, with the fallen buried in this cemetery. It was registered as a Historic Conservation Area by decision no. 2976, dated 9 April 2009, of the Edirne Regional Council for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage.
