Çimpe Castle was a medieval fortification on the Gallipoli peninsula, located along the Istanbul Caddesi between Bolayır and Gallipoli, commanding the narrowest point on the peninsula. It was captured by the Ottomans in 1352, and the Ottoman Turks' crossing into Rumelia by taking this castle marked an important turning point in Balkan history.
