It was commissioned in 1406 by Hacerzâde İbrahim Bey. The architect of the building is unknown. The mosque suffered heavy damage in the Balkan War and in earthquakes. It was later restored to a state very close to its original form and reopened for worship on 15 October 1971. The building was constructed entirely of finely cut stone, with marble also used on the façade, in the plan of a single-domed mosque.
