Editor's Note
The tomb was built for Hatice Sultan, daughter of Bayezid II and wife of the grand vizier Kara Mustafa Pasha, grandson of Hamza Bey, by her son Mehmet Bey, the police chief of Bursa. When her husband Kara Mustafa Pasha was executed, Hatice Sultan grew estranged from her father, withdrew to Bursa, and saw no one. According to one account, after a while sores broke out on her body; these sores, which could not be cured by any means, healed with the water that sprang up at the very spot where the tomb stands. Upon this, after Hatice Sultan's death, her son Mehmet Bey had her tomb built here. The square-plan tomb is covered with a dome. It has a portico on its north side.
