Editor's Note
Toward the end of the period known in the Ottoman State as the Interregnum, while Mehmed Celebi was in the final phase of his struggle with his brother Musa Celebi in Rumelia, the Karamanid ruler Mehmed II went on the offensive in Anatolia and besieged the former Ottoman capital, Bursa. After a siege of 31 days, the Karaman army, unable to succeed against the resistance of Haci Ivaz Pasha [1], burned the outskirts of the city and also damaged the tomb of Bayezid I. When an Ottoman unit bringing the body of Musa Celebi, defeated by Mehmed Celebi, to Bursa approached, the Karaman army withdrew.
