Editor's Note
It was built in 1390 by Kara Timurtaş Paşa, one of the statesmen of the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid. The building was first built as a masjid and converted into a mosque in 1573. It is of the inverted-T plan type (with hospice rooms and a zaviye) and has a five-bay portico (last congregation space). The mosque's minaret stands separate from the building, to the north of the mosque. The minaret base rises on six brick piers connected to one another by pointed arches, with an ablution fountain beneath the piers.
