Editor's Note
The mosque was built during the reign of Sultan Mehmed II (the Conqueror) by a merchant named Bedreddin Mahmud bin Muhammed el-Acemî, known as Acem Reis. From the note about the Acem Reis Masjid, which appears in some historical sources under the name 'Arap Camii', it is understood that this mosque was also called 'Arap Camii' (Arab Mosque). The mosque has a rectangular plan including the main prayer hall and the portico (last congregation space). The building was repaired in 1962.
