Editor's Note
A Greek Orthodox church in the Demirkapi district, south of the central Osmangazi district of Bursa, renovated in the 19th century. Records state that the church was dedicated to Hagios Taxiarchoi, that the inscription above its door is in Turkish written with Greek letters, that it was built during the reign of Orhan Gazi, and that it was renovated in 1835 under Mahmud II. The same source records it as one of six churches around Bursa where services were held in Turkish. From the mid-1920s the building was fitted with a mezzanine and turned into a silk-reeling factory, a function it served for a long time, and today it is used as a warehouse.
