Editor's Note
It was built in the first half of the 15th century by Sultan Çelebi Mehmed to provide income for the Yeşil (Green) Complex. Various sources state that the architect of the İpek Han was Hacı İvaz Paşa. In the late 19th century, during the governorship of Ahmed Vefik Paşa, the eastern entrance façade of the han was demolished when Mecidiye Avenue was opened, and this section was rebuilt after 1958. Today the han houses tailors' workshops and shops selling clothing.
