Editor's Note
It is one of the oldest cemeteries in Bursa, dating back to the conquest of Bursa and probably even earlier. The source of the water that flowed underground to Pınarbaşı, located south of the Hisar (citadel) and around which a neighborhood grew, was a place called Soğukpınar. In the middle of this cemetery, which holds the graves of many famous figures, stands a gravestone dated 844/1436 belonging to Hayreddin, the son of a Byzantine official originally named Philippos who had aided the Turks during the siege of Bursa.
