Editor's Note
It was built during the reign of Bayezid I (Yıldırım) by Ali Pasha, the son of Çandarlı Halil Hayreddin Pasha and vizier of Bayezid I. It belongs to the group of winged inverted-"T" zaviye mosques that began with the Orhan Mosque in Bursa. It suffered major damage in the 1854 earthquake, when its domes and side wings collapsed. It took its present form through the repairs and restorations carried out after the earthquake. The five-arched portico (last congregation area) rests on masonry piers. Its east and west sides are closed. The traces that remain show that the five-bayed space was originally covered with domes. As a result of the repairs, it has undergone major changes.
