Editor's Note
The Hançerli Fatma Sultan Madrasa was built in the first half of the 16th century by Fatma Sultan, the daughter of Sultan Mahmut, who was the son of Bayezid II. The Hançerli Fatma Sultan Madrasa is one of the madrasas built as a single structure. With the features of classical madrasa architecture, the building was constructed with 14 rooms and one iwan/classroom. The building served its intended purpose for a long time but, over time, fell into a neglected and ruined state due to problems caused by the foundation's trustees.
