Editor's Note
The Tekor Basilica, or Church of Saint Sarkis, is a late 5th-century Armenian church on a slope facing the town formerly known as Tekor, near Digor in Kars Province. A three-aisled domed basilica, it was severely damaged by earthquakes in 1912 and 1936 and later by vandalism, so that today only the lower walls and rubble core survive after the facing stone was reportedly removed in the 1960s. Its inscription dating the building to the 480s is regarded as the oldest known writing in the Armenian language.
