The mosque stands on Hasan Bey Street in the Karaer Quarter in the centre of Gümüşhane province. Construction of the Kemaliye Mosque began in 1922; it was built of masonry with wooden floors and ceilings, and its minaret was added after 1927. The mosque burned down entirely in a major fire in the 1970s and was rebuilt in later years, though not faithful to the original. — 1 S.
