In the year 1224 there was a caravanserai (han) in Niksar. We do not know what this han looked like. Among the monuments and ruins of Niksar there is nothing that can be associated with such a building. Kurt Erdmann visited Niksar on 11 July 1958. However, İbrahim Divarcı photographed a ruin in Niksar. The photographs can be seen at http://www.turkishhan.org/niksar.htm.
