The mosque in the town of Akbelen, within Tokat's central district, was built in AH 1214 (1799 CE) and underwent a repair in 1856. In 2003 a portico (last-congregation space) was added to its north side and the body walls were rendered externally. The square-plan prayer hall is covered by a dome with pendentive transitions carried on eight wooden columns. The dome is externally covered by a wide-eaved pyramidal cap. Windows opened in the arched surfaces between the wooden columns supporting the dome illuminate the prayer hall. There is a women's gallery on the west wall of the hall.
