Yüksek Kahve

Standing at the corner where Behzat Boulevard meets Behzat Avenue, the building is popularly known as "Yüksek Kahve" (the High Coffeehouse). Thought to have been built in the late 19th century, it has served as an important meeting point in Tokat's political history. Atatürk above all, but also prime ministers, ministers, members of parliament and political figures in every era, would hold meetings at Yüksek Kahve when they came to Tokat and address the public from the building's balcony. Shaped to fit its corner site where the two streets meet, it is a ground-plus-two-story corner building.
